Hi Diane, Yes, I think that’s a good approximation. I would start checking it after about 6 minutes per pound.

I have a question. I will have a 15 to 17 pound turkey & am looking for an approximate time per pound to roast. Based on your 10 to 12 pound turkey timing of 1 to 1 hour & 45 minutes, would you think about 8 minutes per pound would work for a total of approximately 2 hours to get to 160 degrees?
