My mom made this and I raised my 4 sons on it, but I’ve never seen it as a recipe! It was just a favorite dinner.
I like to add some Worcestershire sauce.

We all loved it. It was easy, and cheap, especially for 6 kids. I still make it occasionally. I was so surprised to see it on your list. We were all healthy eaters so the need for cheap was needed, lol. She would also make Bologna gravy. I hated but I’m not sure if people make that anymore?
