What I love about this recipe:

  • Great for a crowd: They’re inexpensive, fast and easy to make and everyone always loves them! I usually double the batch for our family so we can have leftovers!
  • Easy to Make-Ahead: Perfect for busy weeknights, or something a babysitter could pop in the oven.
  • No Poppy seeds: Many baked slider recipes use poppy seeds in the sauce, but I don’t because I don’t think they add any necessary flavor, and no one likes seeds in their teeth!

How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders:

  • Spray a 9×13’’ dish with baking spray. Set aside.
  • Assemble the sandwiches: Slice the rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom halves in the baking dish. Layer 1-2 slices of ham and cheese on each roll and cover with roll tops.

A baking dish lined with a dozen roll bottoms, topped with ham and then cheese.

  • Make the sauce: In a small bowl mix together the melted butter, mustard, grated onion, and Worcestershire sauce. Spoon the sauce over the tops of the sandwiches.  Allow rolls to rest for 10-15 minutes before baking, or refrigerate for up to 1-2 days (depending on how fresh your ingredients are).

  • Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until warmed through and the cheese is melted.

Can I make them ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can assemble the sliders completely and refrigerate them (well covered) for 1-2 days, depending on te freshness of your ingredients. Remove from fridge 15 minutes before baking, and bake as instructed.

Freezing Instructions: Assemble sliders as instructed (in a freezer-safe dish or aluminum pan), including the sauce on top. Cover with a double layer of aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray so it doesn’t stick to the rolls. Freeze for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen until the roll tops are golden and the cheese is melted, about 18-25 minutes

Whether you’re making them for dinner, or for a party appetizer, these sides go great with ham and cheese sliders:

Potato Salad

Fresh Fruit Bowl

Baked Beans

Deviled Eggs

Au Gratin Potatoes

I make these in my air fryer. I do everything the same way,
except instead of a baking tray in the, oven, I put them in my air fryer basket. Bake at 350°F until the cheese is melted and the tops are a nice golden brown. I have a small air fryer, so I make them 4 at a time.

These were soooo delicious! I made the ham ones for my husband and vegetarian ones for myself. Soo delicious!

Delicious! I’ve made these with ham, turkey, swiss, and sharp cheddar in 4 different combinations. I also added minced garlic to the melted butter.

  6. The total carbohydrates count is incorrect in the ‘Nutrition Facts’ table. Perhaps the Hawaiian roll (16 carbohydrate grams each) information was inadvertently omitted. ???

    Great recipe though!
