We’ve all heard star athletes declare, “I’m going to Disneyland!” after winning the big game. It’s no different with Michael Phelps, the record-setting gold medal winner. He also made a trip to Magic Kingdom Orlando.
But Phelps has a history with Disney. Disney loves the way he wins, with humility and honor. The honored him after the 2004 Olympics as well.
The Magic Kingdom held a parade in Phelps honor. The parade was accompanied by millions of pieces of confetti and thousands of flag-waving parade watchers.
Phelps said of the event:
“I am so happy to celebrate here and see some of the fans who supported me. It’s great to feel so much excitement around the sport of swimming in the U.S. and around the world. To top it all off with a parade at Disney World is just incredible.”
