Ski Vacation And Fine Dining
The ski trip has changed substantially from the no frills experience common in the 1970s and 1980s. The ski resorts across Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah have been upgrading their facilities to craft the perfect ski vacation experience.
The previous ten years has brought continual expansion to western ski resorts. They have expanded their size, quality, and breadth of services. Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah and Vail Resort in Vail, Colorado have risen to the top of the ski resort show down. Deer Valley Resort has been ranked the #1 Ski Resort in North America by the readers of Ski Magazine in 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2001. Vail Resort held the honor in 2006, 2003, 2002, and 2000.
Deer Valley focuses on the quality of its well groomed trails, on mountain services, and on mountain restaurants to retain its #1 ranking. The resort prides itself on its award winning lunch menu as well as its fine dining restaurants open every evening during the winter season. The restaurants are located in Deer Valley Resorts opulent ski lodges.
The Mariposa is considered Deer Valleys flagship dining establishment serving European continental fare. Fireside Dining provides optional romantic horse drawn sleigh rides before dinner and a unique Swiss alpine menu served beside wood burning fireplaces. The Seafood Buffet is a well known favorite featuring a large selection of fresh seafood as well as hearty items from the grill.
Park City Utah has also upgraded its service level by increasing the number of high end accommodations and by adding many fantastic restaurants. The traditional ski vacation lodging options have been displaced due to the demands of the modern vacationer.
As a result of the transition to a more discerning traveler, area restaurants have responded by providing sophisticated dining experiences worthy of the most distinguished palate. There are several restaurants in close proximity to Deer Valley Resort that receive high ratings though distinguished rating agencies such as AAA, Michelin, Mobile, and Zagat.
My favorite Deer Valley restaurant is the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant due to its timeless Austrian decor and the tasty cheese fondue appetizer. The Goldener Hirsch Restaurant is located in the Goldener Hirsch Inn situated in the Silver Lake Village area of Deer Valley. The Glitretind Restaurant is another top rated option which is located in the world famous Stein Eriksen Lodge.
No matter what your personal preference, Deer Valley Resort certainly lives up to its reputation as a top ski destination in North America. There are now several unique restaurant options to compliment the awesome skiing and scenery. Its absolutely worth a closer look.
