Bed and Breakfast

Turn Your Business Trip Into a Mini Bed and Breakfast Getaway

If the idea of that next business trip begins to feel like a burden, why not change things up? Instead of a dry hotel with the same room and decor, try a bed and breakfast to add a little adventure to the mix.

Eliminating the hallway noise, the bland rooms and the dull meals can actually turn your business travel into more of a short getaway. At the same time, you might find that your energy and spark return to your job.

My favorite place to find bed and breakfasts is at iLoveInns.com. In just a few seconds, I’ve found a few creative properties to consider.

Chicago: Gold Coast Guest House – This 19th-century brick row house is situated in the heart of the Gold Coast in one the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods. The bed & breakfast offers tastefully appointed guest rooms including one with a bay window and original brick fireplace. Fresh multi-grain bread, fruit, apple-cinnamon tea bread, English muffins and assorted cereals are served in the second-floor dining room. The B&B is a 5-minute stroll to the shops on the “Magnificent Mile” and to the lakeshore, public transportation, restaurants, museums and theaters.

Cincinnati: Weller Haus B&B – Cincinnati’s Weller Haus B&B consists of two beautifully preserved, side-by-side 1880s homes in Taylor Daughter’s Historic District. They feature an English Garden and water pond outdoors, plus fireplaces and two-place Jacuzzi tubs in the rooms. For business travelers, Weller Haus provides hi-speed wireless connections, office supplies, copying, fax machine mailing, phones, in-room coffee service, and the ability to enjoy breakfast on your schedule. There’s easy 24-hour security access to the Inn and a laundry/dry cleaning service as well.

Sacramento: The Amber House – This California bed and breakfast is within blocks of the capitol. The inn utilizes two 1905 historic homes. Enjoy the inviting guest rooms and relax in front of a fire or in the whirlpool tubs in each of the Italian marble bathrooms. The gourmet morning meal is served in your room. Desks come with each room and a variety of services are available for those who travel on business. Impress your clients by using the inn’s dining room for your meetings.

Depending on the bed and breakfast inn you stay at, many also participate in the iLoveInns.com Buy-One-Night-Get-The-Second-Night-Free program. Cut a few dollars from your travel budget by selecting one of the 1,500 B&Bs that participate in the special program.
