If I’m ever looking for a quick movie-night treat, or kids “late-night” snack with their friends, this Peanut Butter Popcorn is always at the top of my mind. It requires only a few pantry ingredients and everyone goes crazy for it. I’ll often swap out a few cups of the popcorn and throw in pretzels, chex cereal and other candy, like candy corn, marshmallows, candy bar chunks. It’s a fun recipe to customize!
How to make Peanut Butter Popcorn:
Pop popcorn and add to an extra large mixing bowl.
Make Peanut Butter Sauce Combine honey and sugar over medium heat and stir well. Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until smooth. Add vanilla.
Pour HALF of the warm sauce slowly over the popcorn and gently stir to coat the mixture. Add more peanut butter sauce to your liking as you gently stir (you may not use it all, depending on preference).
Cool for a few minutes before eating. Enjoy!
Recipe Variations:
- Fall Party Mix: Sub pretzels, cup-for-cup for some of the popcorn, and mix in some candy corn and m&m’s or Reese’s pieces at the end.
- Toppings: After coating the popcorn in the peanut butter sauce, try adding some M&M’s, Reese’s Pieces, chopped Butterfinger, or your favorite chocolate chips!
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn: After the peanut butter popcorn cools, drizzle on melted chocolate then let cool.

This is our new favorite snack. Literally.
Looks delicious. I hope to fix soon!
The taste of this popcorn is so yummy and adding the Reese’s pieces puts it over the top. Question: I used air popped popcorn and the popcorn got soft after adding the hot liquid. Did I do something wrong?
Thank you , great receipes
Do you think corn syrup would work instead of honey? I have never used corn syrup but I am not sure my husband would like honey.
Yes, I think that would be fine. It may make the carmel a little tackier.
Made these this weekend! So delicious! Fantastic snack recipe.
