How to cook Steak in Air Fryer:
Prep Steaks: Remove steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking, to bring them to room temperature. Season steaks on both sides with salt and pepper.
Make Herb Butter: Combine the ingredients in a bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F. Grease the air fryer basket and add steaks. (Cook steaks one at a time if they fit too closely together). Air Fry for 4 minutes, then flip, and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, until desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for best results: 130-135 degrees F for medium rare, 135-140 for medium.
Rest: Remove easy air fryer steaks to a plate and cover with foil to rest, for 5-10 minutes. Add a spoonful of herb butter on top of each warm steak, before serving.
Storing Instructions: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. I enjoy the leftovers cold on a salad, or you can rewarm in the air fryer just until warm and serve in tacos! If you are interested, check out all of my high protein recipes!
Recipe Variations:
- Air Fryer Steak Bites: Slice the steak into chunks, season, and air fry at 400 degrees F for 4 minutes, tossing halfway through, or until desired doneness. Serve with garlic herb butter, or with my Yum Yum Bowls.

I followed your exact recipe, and this came out perfectly! So delicious and easy!
I stink at making steak… I’d love to try this, but I’m allergic to rosemary. Can you suggest different herbs that would give a good flavor for this recipe?
I’d suggest fresh thyme instead!
OMG…. My daughter and myself made this tonight, with a side of Mac N Cheese. Came out PERFECT, thank you so much for the recipe. I actually saved it so we can make it again. *** If anyone is making this, FOLLOW the recipe, the Garlic, Rosemary butter, AWESOME. Lauren, keep up the great work.
I’m not going to lie, this one took some convincing, but I was intrigued by the 20 min cook time. I must admit, the steaks were delicious! It didn’t quite have that sear that you get from the grill, but it was every bit as tender and delicious.
Will be making this tonight.
Would love to hear how it turns out for you!
